Marieke
About This Spot
Stepping into Marieke feels like entering a cherished local retreat where the rhythm slows down just enough to savor both good company and honest food. Nestled on Zeelaan in De Panne, this restaurant welcomes guests with a warm, unpretentious hospitality that immediately sets a tone of comfort rather than formality. The hum of quiet conversation blends with the gentle clink of glasses, inviting you to settle in and enjoy the moment at your own pace.
The space itself carries a cozy atmosphere, a blend of familiar charm and subtle touches that suggest care rather than trendiness. It’s a place where friends gather around generous portions of classic Belgian fare, celebrated for its simplicity and heart. The kitchen cultivates a sincere connection with the sea and the region’s culinary traditions, letting the flavors tell their story without fuss. Whether it’s a delicately cooked Noordzee tong or a velvety pot of Carbonnade Flamande, each plate feels like a shared secret kept between the kitchen and the table.
Marieke’s culinary offerings extend beyond the main plates to include thoughtful nods to local tastes — croquettes filled with tender gray shrimps, hearty waterzooi with fish, and dishes accented by mustard cream or gratinéed witloof that echo the region’s heritage. The thoughtfully curated drinks menu complements these flavors with both Belgian favorites like Brugse Zot on tap and refreshing twists such as a lively Sangria Royale, encouraging a leisurely experience from first sip to last bite.
The staff’s kindness resonates throughout the dining room, shaping the space into more than just a place to eat but a gathering spot where faces quickly become familiar and stories quietly exchanged. It’s this genuine attention wrapped in relaxed confidence that draws visitors back, as much as the food itself. Whether arriving for a quiet dinner, a festive group outing, or a casual drink, Marieke’s atmosphere invites you to feel at home—welcomed, well-fed, and part of the local rhythm.

Came with a group of 8 friends and had a fantastic meal with great service. Portions were huge and possibly the best moules I've ever had.

We were warmly welcomed and had a delicious dinner. Highly recommend the ribeye and the “Moules Marieke”- lovely, light, mustard cream sauce. Prices were very reasonable and we enjoyed every bite. Nice children’s menu as well. Very pleased with it pick for dinner.

I Had steak and chips, I did have to send back as was to bloody and came back very well done, beautifully presented, my husband had the mussels, the staff were incredible and I do believe the boss either made a mistake on the bill or didn’t charge me for my meal, the wine and atmosphere was wonderful, and highly recommend.

Really good food, really nice staff and great value for price ratio! Waiter explained us in a very friendly and kind manner all dishes if we had questions (menu is only available in French or Dutch/Flämisch). We‘ll come back!

The best mussels in the town... Nice place for the dinner and drinks on the terrace. I recommend this place for a fast and effective service.

Absolutely brilliant meal today! We always like to try some local dishes and this place did not disappoint - we ordered 2 rabbit and plum dishes (lapin aux pruneaux), 2 meat dishes (carbonnades a la flamande) and I went for the house mussels. All came with chips and they are all very very tasty! For desert we decided to have some waffles with chocolate, now don't get me wrong they were not bad but we have been somewhat spoilt by the fact that we did have waffles in Bruges a couple of days ago and they were divine so it was a real tough competition to beat but notheless still worth it. All finished with the most jazzy cappuccino I have ever had. Also the gentleman who served us was extremely charming and helpful and made the whole experience a real delight.
